Living on a houseboat in Amsterdam Amsterdam woonboten te koop, houseboats for sale |
Costs; In addition to the rent, the tenant must pay an amount towards the actual utility costs. For 2013, these were [per month]; Watergruwel; €142 [inc. TV / Internet] Realengracht; €211 [inc. TV / Internet] Muselaer €273 [No TV / Internet was connected at the time] Please note that these are very rough guides; actual costs vary greatly according to pattern of use [Home all day in winter = more heat and light costs], services [internet, TV], and personal habits [turning off lights, turning down heat]. In addition to these costs, you will get some taxes from the city of Amsterdam. These are roughly the same whether you rent an apartment or a boat. These fees are beyond my control. In addition, the city considers the annual "liggeld" or "Precario" to be the responsibility of the user [tenant] registered at the address on January 1 of the year. That can be unfair for someone who rents for more than or less than a whole year. And since this is a large bill [nearly a month rent] I pay for it. But it's the responsibility of the tenant to pass the bill on to me in good time. If you rent a houseboat from someone else, remember to ask about this before signing the contract. |
